Cecilia Howard, RMT provides the deeply relaxing Mindful Presence Reiki at The Back Stop. She has well over 23 years of personal meditation and yoga experience. Trained in mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School's Center for Mindfulness where the groundbreaking Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD. In addition, over the past 24 years, she has trained/studied/learned from a vast variety of highly respected and internationally recognized meditation teachers. She is also a certified Reiki Master Teacher (RMT). Over the past 7 years, Cecilia has been providing MBSR, mindfulness, meditation and mindful living classes all over NH . She produces a television show for local public television affiliate, BCTV called StressLESS Mindfulness Meditation. She is a fully trained Recovery Coach, volunteers at HOPE for NH Recovery as a meditation teacher, and is a compassionate, caring advocate for the rights and needs of anyone who is seeking or in active recovery. She is also one of the very first trained and certified Acupuncture-Detox Specialists in the state of NH. She is an excellent, well trained and avid public speaker, and loves speaking to groups, both large and small about all things mindfulness! Cecilia hails from NJ originally, has lived on Cape Cod and Nantucket Island, as well as in the Boston area and NC. She calls NH home now, having lived for 7 years in Milford and for the last 8 years in Bedford. Her warmth, humor, caring, and compassionate nature is genuine. She truly lives what she teaches, for to do any less would be a disservice to all her clients who have come to know and deeply appreciate this level of authenticity and integrity.
Pam started working for Dr. Wier in the fall of 1991 and has been here ever since. She has seen a lot of changes to the health care industry during the past twenty one years, and not all of it good. She enjoys meeting new people and helping them to understand the healthcare system in any way she can.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with family, gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and reading.
They bought their home and started a family and Pam stayed home to raise their two daughters. During that time her husband started his own plumbing and heating business. They have now been married for forty three years and still live in the same home. Their children live nearby and they have one granddaughter.
Pam Austin grew up in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School, although much of her time was spent in Brookline and Milford. Her family spent every summer and many weekends in Brookline either at the family camp or at her grandparent’s small dairy farm.
Pam began her career in the healthcare field at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua. She worked in the business office, the credit collections office, and the insurance department. She worked there for six years. During that time she married her husband, Ellsworth and settled into married life in Brookline.
He has worked on celebrities such as a gold record winning rock guitarist, an Olympic athlete, and the late entertainer Bob Hope. He has also treated surgeons, physicians, and other medical professionals. His clientele has even included show dogs.
Dr. Wier enjoys a healthy and active adult life by skiing, kayaking, circuit training, cycling, and competing annually in the Mount Washington bicycle hill climb. He also enjoys photography and maintaining 14 acres in Greenfield, NH where he and his wife, Sheryl, reside with their two horses and two Doberman Pinschers.
Dr. James Wier understands what it’s like to be unwell. As a young child he suffered from several illnesses, then severe allergies kept him from participating in outdoor activities. Just when he overcame the allergies and started enjoying sports, he sustained four significant back injuries in one year. The last injury was so severe he was unable to tie his own shoes. He was able to finally achieve his wellbeing through exercise, nutrition, and Chiropractic.
Dr. Wier received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at New York Chiropractic College in 1985. He is a member of both the American and the New Hampshire Chiropractic Associations. Dr. Wier founded the Back/Stop Chiropractic Health Center in 1988 where he strives to be a portal of entry to holistic healthcare. By taking time to listen to and thoroughly evaluate his patients, he determines what approach is needed. This may include one of the many therapies he offers, a change in their habits, or a referral to another professional.
Dr. Wier has been in practice since 1986. He has taught Anatomy and Physiology at Hesser College and has been a featured guest on both radio and television. He has treated over seven thousand people from all walks of life. His patients range from infants to the elderly, and from athletes to the sedentary.
